MSI Fuzzy 945GM1 Drivers (esp. ethernet) and Bios Update

I am trying to get a MSI Fuzzy 945GM1 running.
Windows XP pro (32 bit) loaded ok.
The driver disk that is included comes with a 64 bit driver disk, which even when exploring the disk instead of using autorun, was entirely unhelpful.
So I started searching the internet using "ms-7265 drivers", and found logicsuppy's page for the product, which directed me to intel's web site, where I found the drivers for the chipset and graphics controller. which left yellow question marks next to the audio device and the ethernet controller.
Logicsupply was again helpful in directing me to realtek's site for the AC97 driver. And now for the problem:

I can't for the life of me find the ethernet controller drivers. This board's information book says it,"Supports Dual Intel® 10/100/1000 LAN by two Intel® 82541PI Giga-LAN controllers".
Intel's website didn't really provide enough information other than:

Which, I guess, leads me back to MSI, who's product page and download section seems deficient for this product.

Has anybody overcome this? Is there an answer? Would someone please help?

Microsoft says I only have 30 days to figure this out!

Hot damn, I got it!

I probably should have looked a little more closely at the specs page:

82541PI was the key.

Now, after I activate, I'm going to have to figure out what I'm going to do with BOTH lan controllers

Since this is concerning the 945GM1 let me add something in for you and everyone else using the board as well. There is a BIOS update for the board which fixes issues with PCI VGA cards. To get it download it from the Axis 945GM Barebones download page. It is version 1.10. For whatever reason it's only listed on the Axis download page and the GM1's page is nonexistent. The fix allows ACPI to function correctly it seems with an addon PCI graphics card. (pre-patch knoppix would not detect ACPI bios and crash on hardware detection and windows just rebooted endlessly before the graphical loading screen came up.)

All it does is (as listed anyway)
1. Add support for T2080 CPU
2. Fix some PCI VGA card problems
I needed it because I was unable to get 800x480 out of the VGA using the onboard graphics so I ended up with one of the "free" (after rebate) MX4000 PCI cards in order to get it. Unless you're using a PCI graphics card it's probably a useless update though.

I noticed that the bios does not have the option for "quick boot" and I've been trying to get guidance from MSI about this. Help from the MSI forums was friendly and helpful in pointing me in the right direction, but the mod didn't have much experience with this "industrial computer" (other than he could see it not being available due to the infrequent cycling of the industrial application of these boards).

As it stands the bios post is slow and there's no shortcut. I haven't yet gone down the scary path of modding and flashing the bios with software tools that are out there.

I'll post what I find when I get news.

I'm also trying to find a better fan/heatsink but I'm not sure yet what will fit. The supplied fan is not great, to say the absolute least, at room temp in a Travla C138 case, and a T5600 processor. Where's my 80mm hole saw...

If you plan to replace the heatsink, the mounting holes are non-standard. I had ordered a heatsink for a mobile 478 socket and it didn't fit. Ended up asking MSI support and they said it was a non-standard mounting. I just replaced the fan and screwed it into the heatsink. Still a 40(?)mm fan though :/

I think it's 50mm, I found one that is 16cfm, it fit & put a 60mm where the 2..5mm HDD mount was. I went through the same with the heatsink. I still think I need more flow, due to it's location in my console.

Is your bios like mine? slow (tests) without a fix.

I kind of gave up on it. I went a couple of rounds with MSI support, and got nothing back from them. I never tried to use any tools to hack the BIOS. I've never done it before, it's kind of scarry, so I lived with it. Someone who knows more than I about these issues said (in some other thread) the boot time isn't so bad, so I just started to live with it. I had asked him what version of bios he had, but I think we both kind of forgot about it.

It's been a while. No one sent me any tools. I just researched it some to see that there were software options available out there for it (with forums for support). I don't remember off hand. I'll dig through my notes to see if I left a trail of bread-crumbs to what I was talking about. Like I said I gave up on that, for the time being, didn't want the hassle of a corrupted bios.

So how's the board in car?

I've got it on my desk now, running horm / ewf and minlogon with a 8gb SSD. The windows loading screen takes 1/2 a bar till desktop, so I disabled it and it boots straight to roadrunner.

If only the bloody post doesn't take that long, i'll have an almost instant ON-

Is it stable with the 800x600, I havn't tried it with the 800x480 yet. Have you got that up and running with hibernation? My previos via had lots of trouble with the video driver not showing up.

I hope MSI wakes up and gives a better bios, I havn't seen bioses counting ram since a 386!
