Ford HVAC Controls

I know this is probably already answered somewhere deep in the plethora of posts and threads contained here, but I can't seem to find it.

I recently inherited a 2001 Ford Taraus. I want to put a car computer in it as well, but I have one small problem... The bezel that contains the radio head unit and the HVAC Controls are all in one. Now granted, I could always custom fab a new cover to accomodate my needs, but I wanted to make this a venture for a new thing. I have never really messed around too much with these controls, at least from a carPC standpoint, and I was wondering what I needed for controlling the HVAC controls (Blower Speed, Temperature, and Vent Output Selection?). Any help would be great.

I also have a 1994 Mercury Sable LS and if I could get this machine off the ground, I might take a look at the touch screen HVAC controls in it and see what I can do with it.

THANKS TO THE MP3CAR COMMUNITY!

If removing the HVAC controls altogether from the dash is your objective, have look at Maestro's thread

I have seen the first one before, but it just doesnt seem like something suitable. I think I might check out the Fusion Brain and see what it is all about.

Good call,
I'd be more than willing to help and share what I know. I've spent a little bit of time exploring the subject. I have a thread on it in the fusion forum. It's a bit complicated, but it doesn't have to be so much. The kind of automatic control of HVAC I'm working on needs it (and once it's been done once it should get easier). I'm not done, but well on my way.

EDIT: and if you end up actually wanting an AIRCON just put a wtb up on classifieds, I may just have one for a pretty good price.

I will keep it in mind, but I definitely want to check out FB, a usb interface would seem to be much friendlier.
