Carputer bass level crap!

Ive got an intel 810E chipset with onboard audio, graphics etc and i can get FA bass out of this thing. I have looked at all the settings but can find bass/treble anywhere. i tried the equiliser in WMP but it just distorts it and doesn't give out a good sound. im using an aux-in in my car with which my ipod sound much better and more bassy.

Ive got the bass turned all the way up on the stock headunit too....

any xp software to tweak audio. im pretty sure i have the latest drivers...
cheers

check your system volume and turn your main volume all the way up and your wave volume all the way up as well..

for eq files, look up king willy's realm through google or the new microsoft live search engine and grab some of his EQF files. load them into your winamp, and adjust to your hearts content...i use his "allround" eqf and i have modified it a little lower on the highs, and up on the lows to compensate, cause i had the same problem when i first installed my carpc...

hopefully that works...if not you can pm me or whathave you and i will do my best to help you out since i had and have since fixed this same problem...

Cheers
Rij

EDIT: just reread and noticed you are using Windows Media Player...those .eqf files are for winamp just FYI...

also, adjust which speakers you have set as default on your computer...it does make a difference believe it or not...

i wouldn't really blame your carputer, in my opinion your speaker/HU in the car is probally more likely to be the cause.

its a plausible explanation, but he hooks up his ipod to it and it acts normal (or rather, better than his computer in bass response)...and i know for a fact the built in amplifier in an ipod is junk.

have you taken a look at the back of your radio? are there any RCA jacks there that you can use instead of the aux in port?

If your iPod sounds good and your comp sounds bad, I'm guessing its your software settings.

Windows bass adjustment:
open volume control in system tray -> options menu -> CHECK "advanced controls"
"advanced" button should now appear below the main volume control. click it and you can access bass/treble

WinAMP bass adjustment:
1) make sure the EQ is actually "on." there is an on/off button for the EQ and i believe it defaults to "off," which ignores the EQ.
2) turn all your EQ frequencies to default (flat in the middle), and turn up only the bottom frequency
3) make sure winamp's "pre-amp" is at the default (middle) or even lower. try turning that lower to see if the distortion stops. if turning the pre-amp all the way down removes the distortion, then problem solved?

cheers for the tips. ill mess around a bit. see i thinking the problem could well be to do with....pardon my blasphemy: 'integrated sound' :P i cant upgrade anything its a little cappicino ez3 (i think its ez3) or something similar. all onboard stuff. the whole computer hdd and all fits in a cd-rom drive

my car doesnt have any rca input or anything. its got aux in thats it. im going to install and external sub soon that will take its signal from the rear speakers so all should be fine. thanks again

Well, a ground loop isolator is basically a choke, so I could see that affecting bass responce. I'd check your wiring or buy a better isolator.
