SATA and the infinite frustration...

OK, so the carputer is up and going! I took my first road trip with it this weekend, 3.5 hours to Martinsville Indiana. And....

It puked on me. Silence the whole way home.

The nice part is I knew from the way it acted before it died that it was a hard drive cabling issue. I was using a laptop drive with a IDE adapter on it, and the adapter was somewhat flimsy, so when I hit a large bump the hard drive lost it's connection momentarily. I remedied this by replacing said drive with a standard 3.5". No more problems now...with the hard drive that is.

My DVD burner is SATA, and as we all know the SATA cable is small and the connection flimsy compared to an IDE cable. If I jostle the burner too much, Windows will BSOD on me. How are the rest of you coping with this problem, if you have it? I am thinking about just hot gluing the cable into the back of the unit. Any other solutions?

Other than that, the whole setup works like a champ, and I am for the most part VERY happy.

Have you tried using an sata cable with a locking latch?
If you go here: http://www.newegg.com/Product/Produc...82E16812123132
That cable is an example of what I'm talking about. It has a little metal clip on the connector which holds it in place more securely.

And Paul wins the prize! I feel stupid for not looking that up myself. Thanks!
