USB 2.0 PCMCIA or USB hub?

Hi there, do you think it would be better to go with a PCMCIA USB hub or a hub that plugs into an exsisting usb port? I'm running a laptop setup but I've run into the need for two more ports. I've heard that you have to be carful with usb hubs and pluging devices into it a are bandwidth hungery.....is it the same case with the PCMCIA card? Thanks!

The add-in card would add another controller without affecting bandwidth to the existing ports.
