Advice on how to mount screen on / in this dash

Below is a pic of my cars dash. I have a nice 8 inch touchscreen monitor I want to add right in the middle where the old radio and empty socket currently are but the monitor is too big.

I`ve checked the screen and if I can find a way of mounting the monitor on a stand that would fit at the bottom of the empty space it would not obscure my existing switches such as hazard lights etcetera so would not fail an MOT.

However I am unsure of how to mount it there, any advice would be appreciated as its the best place to have it in my car (2001 Kia Shuma 1.6). I`m thinking maybe clamping a homemade stand in somehow at the moment but maybe someone here has had this issue and found a good way of solving it?

The gap available is 9.8 cm high and 9 cm wide, I wonder if there is a simple way to attach some sort of stand perhaps?

Maybe you should change the screen to a 7 inch..... i had two 9 inch visors, but they were composite (bad for a PC), so i threw away the screens but kept the casing and the EBY701s' fit perfectly. Im sure if you take them out of the case, they will fit in that space.......

If you don't mind not having the monitor permanently mounted in the dash, then why not just attach a rectangular piece of material shaped to fit in the cubby below the radio to the back of the screen, and then slide the mounting block combo into the cubby. A bit of foam tape or adhesive rubber strips on the mounting block would ensure a tight, stable fit. I think that would be far easier/less expensive/better looking than a separate stand with the screen mounted to it...and would have the additional benefit of being more stable if you are using a touchscreen.

That would make sense as I don`t really wish to remove te screen from the casing if I can help it. Any recommendations for a suitable material?

It would be easier than changing to a smaller screen as am on a tight budget so this would be a great solution!
