damn.... Intel D201GLY2A Mini-ITX Motherboard wont boot with m2atx

since I really wanted to go voom size with my car pc... I bought the new Intel D201GLY2A Mini-ITX Motherboard, 1gig of ram, a 2.5" sata drive, and a voom2 pc case... I have an m2 atx already that worked but now that I hooked it up with this new setup, it won't post... it boots but nothing more...

The machine works fine with a regular ps though... I used it to install the os and get most of the config stuff done... and it runs great.. soon as I plug in the m2 atx, nothing... just turns on the fans and the drive spins up then down then up then down... and nothing on the screen.. even with the drive disconnected, same thing....

Happily though, setting up the os on this mobo didn't require sata drivers.. it worked just like an IDE drive would...

Anyone have any ideas ??? I emailed Andrei about it... hoping he will help me out...

Check all your connections.

is the car running?

Check the voltage on the 12 volt rail of the PS

Im in the house.. on the bench with a good battery and a 12Volt trickle charger that's been attached to it for days... all the connections are good.. My meter shows 13volts on the battery too..

There's something definitely wrong with this m2.. :-(

try connecting the P4 connector... if you havent im sure thats the prob.

c'mon.. im not a noob.. ofcourse the p4 is connected... like i said.. it powers up with a normal psu..

but to update... I made some proper clean connections to the battery, and the only way it will run, is if I disconnect J8 and power the mobo by shorting the pins myself.
If I run J8 to the on / off ... when I connect the power to white and then to red sequentially, it turns on the green mobo led.. then the blue one for the zoom case which is connected to my m2... spins up the drive then shuts down... no further...
even if I short J9... nothing ever happens.....
nothing changes if I put jumpers on or not on a,b,c or d..

looks like my M2 has a similar issue that I have heard from other people..

Is yours the older M2-ATX power supply, or a new one? I purchased a new M2-ATX (160watt version) and it works fine with this MB.

Maybe your M2-ATX is the older 120 watt version? Not 100% positive on the wattage size.

ludikris, did you ever get your M2-ATX issue resolved?

I am experiencing the exact same problem. The fan and Voom pc light comes on for about 3 seconds then it shuts down. The only way to keep it running is to disconnect the wires from the power supply to the motherboard switch then short the switch.

My PSU is new (just received it with the motherboard and case last week).

Does anyone else have any suggestions on what to try to get this to work? I also tried various jumper settings, but I get the same results.

The wires from your power supply fits two different ways, does it make any difference if you switch them around?

I didn't try switching them around, but I will give that a shot. the mobo and psu came already connected when I bought it from itx-depot. The strange thing is that it worked fine the first day, but now im having the turn on issue as mentioned before. could there be a j8 issue? is there a way to fix that myself if it is? I want to avoid having to send it back if that is the problem.

I think there's a setting in the BIOS on what to do upon power failure, change that to ignore or resume from power failure, as I think it helped someone fix their problem (on a different M/B but similar problem).

Okay, I changed the bios to resume on power failuer and also tried swaping the motherboard power switch wires. It appears that the wires were connected correctly originally since it did not work at all once I switched them around. I also tried setting a couple other jumper options and it seems that functionality of the psu works correctly. The only issue is that with the j8 connected, it powers the motherboard up for about 3 seconds then shuts it back down. The motherboard will only stay on if J8 is disconnected.

Any other thoughts on this or do you think this psu is toast?
