This is a potential problem for me since my LCD in my car is composite. Any input would be greatly appreciated. Thanks.
Here's my bad monitor experience.
The VGA, S-Video, and composite work on post.
They all start showing the windows splash screen...
Only the VGA and S-video continue to work in Windows XP.
The composite doesn't work. I've tried several resolutions and color depths, but no luck. Any idea's?
Also, if someone knows how to shut off the POST beep through the integrated sounds card, that would be great. It was do-able with the original EPIA with the new BIOS, but not here from what I keep trying to find.

Mine does the same thing...
I contacted VIAVPSD.com about it through the tech support online. If you guys do the same they might see this as a more serious problem and handle it quicker. I also mentioned the beep during POST.

After the post screen is when the video drivers take over. Sounds like a driver problem to me. Look through the advanced settings in your video properties. There should be options to turn on and off all of your video outputs. Try uninstalling the video drivers. You might be able to limp your system along in 640x480 mode with the composite video out working in the car until the fix comes out. maybe...

Had already tried that with no go.
What I might do is get a s-video to composite adapter.
They only cost a couple bucks and should work. (I hope)
Thanks though...

It is set by default.
I tried it both ways anyway.
If you look at the manual, there is a misprint.
It says 1-2 for Composite and 3-4 for video out.
Or something like that.
But, no go still...
The other thing you must remember, is that it works.
Just not when Windows is fully loaded...
There response to me even though I told them I had tried it in the first email:
Dear Mario,
You have to enable the TV out through composite connection in Windows with
CRT first. The video driver will enable you to select the screen out option.
As for the POST beep, the only option so far is to disconnect the audio jack
when you power on.
Best Regards,
VPSD Technical Support

Check this out:
http://www.silentpcreview.com/module...rtid=50&page=1
They talk about the same problem on page 2.
TV Hookup
A Panasonic GAOO 27", two years old, with S-VIDEO and other inputs, is the only TV available. It is a high resolution TV with excellent picture quality. It was connected to the PC via a 6 foot long S-VIDEO cable. For reasons that could not be determined, the TV resisted all attempts to display the PC output beyond the bootup script. As soon as the Windows screen appeared, the TV screen simply went blank. The same problem was encountered with the other systems, one with a Matrox G550, the other a Matrox G400 Max. Nothing worked, so for now, the TV looks like the culprit. This issue will continue to be explored (with help from VIA) and a followup posted when more information is available.

Found the problem!!!
Go into video properties and advanced.
Click the S3 Display tab.
Place a check-mark on TV.
Don't stop there!
Than click on the picture of the TV.
You will see more options appear!!!!!!
I went into advanced and hit + on size.
I found I had to reset the refresh rate on the monitor.
Even on my new 36" HDTV TV it's tough to read.
s-video is tons better.
Quality isn't good, but hey whatta' ya' want.
Good luck to you guys!!!

Mario,
The problem is, when the computer is powered up in say, a car with a composite LCD, the EPIA-M won't directly default to the composite output until you manually. Are you saying your little trick corrects this problem? Can anybody else confirm this?

If you are having a "bios post" composite problem, most people said putting a 75 ohm resister across the composite would trick the motherboard into thinking the composite monitor was on and connected.
The problems a few of us were having with the EPIA-M was no video after windows was loading...
