Intel D201GLY2A - USB Ports won't work at all! Help!

Hey everyone,

I recently got the D201GLY2A board installed and I finally got Windows installed on it (Via a PS/2 keyboard). Now I've finally realized that my USB ports don't work. Whether hooked up directly to the motherboard or through a hub none work.

I'm positive all Bios settings are enabled for USB ports working. Does anyone have any suggestions why this would happen? I don't believe its a power issue and PS2 does work fine. Is there a particular setting I'm missing? Anything? This is driving me nuts!

Did you forget to install the motherboard drivers?

hmm well I bought it from Chris at Mobile Solutions so I assumed they were installed and ready to go. Do you install those drivers through Windows?

From this list I couldn't find anything pertaining to the chipset installation:

When you open up device manager, can you see the USB host controller?

Well it turns out that it was because I had USB 2.0 parts enabled in my BIOS. I assumed that it should be enabled but as soon as I disabled it, Windows recognized all my USB devices correctly.

I have that same board and have all the USB 2.0 options enabled and don't have any problems. Have you tried a bios update? I noticed my board shipped with an older bios and just updated it for good measure. Could possibly be your problem. But I don't think it has anything to do with drivers since it seems you were having problems before installing the OS, also, I don't have any special drivers installed for the chipset and have no issues either. USB support is native in bios functions and shouldn't require any drivers to operate, and since USB 2.0 is backward compatible with USB 1 it would lead me to believe there is something deeper going on there. I'd start with resetting the bios to defaults and if that doesn't work then I'd flash to the most recent update.

If that doesn't work I'd call Intel and see what they have to say about it. No excuse to have to live with a board where you have to disable USB2 functionality in order to function.

I do believe I have the latest bios. On the USB configuration do you have USB Legacy enabled or disabled? Right now I have them enabled and have the 'USB Ports' set to enabled but 2.0 disabled. I have heard that having USB Legacy enabled slows Windows boot times down so I may disable that and see what happens and go from there. As of now I'm just relieved its working all together.

I actually had ALL USB options in the BIOS enabled. Maybe it's one or more of your USB devices that just doesn't like it?
