I've installed Windows four times, one time with Windows XP Pro SP2, and all other times with TinyXP SP3 trying out different options, audio worked each and every time. I use the supplier driver CD and let it install all drivers for me automatically. I'm a bit surprised to hear some people having issues with audio driver. Perhaps Windows would get less confused if you leave all USB devices unplugged and install them one at a time after Windows + Drivers have first installed successfully.

I note that there is now a new BIOS available from Intel, version 103. Since my machine is stable and so far doing everything I want of it, I'm not tempted to update the BIOS again.
My machine does indeed report 800x480 as a resolution option when I review display configuration in XP.

Very frustrated! According to the vendor, the only change they did to stock BIOS was put a custom flash screen, that's all. According to them, this should not cause any issues for upgrading. In the mean time, I tried latest BIOS (0103) and previous BIOS (0099) and both give me an error that this update is not intended for my BIOS. Now, I am trying the Windows version of the update that Intel provided. Maybe I should try a boot version to see if I get any further; but I would be surprised. My setup is rock solid but inability to get the native resolution is driving me nuts!
Thanks for all the info though.

Rick,
Can you give the the driver info for the updated resolutions you are showing available.
This is what I have, and the best I can get is 800 x 600, now that my video card sit the bed on me.

Anyone else having issues using CF-IDE adapters with this board? I have purchased two separate ones and with both they are only transferring in PIO mode at a max of 2.5 MB/s. If I connect the same card via USB and boot to the HDD, it transfers upwards of 25 MB/s. I switched it from master to slave, I switched the IDE cable out, nothing seems to matter. I was just wondering if anybody was successfully using an IDE adapter for a CF card on this mobo.

I'm using BIOS 099, dated 7/30/08, as I recall. I see that Intel now has a newer one available, but I have not bothered with it.
I'm using Intel Graphics Media Accelerator 14.32.4.4926, dated 4/16/08. That's the latest one shown for XP. There is a later one for Vista.
And I'm using Realtek audio driver version 5672, dated 8/5/08, and Realtek TFL8101 LAN driver version 5.694, dated 6/11/08.
I also installed the Intel Chipset Software Installation Utility, version 9.0.0.1011, dated 7/30/08, but I did that before installing the video and audio drivers listed above.
The Graphics Media Accelerator driver was the last one I installed, and that finally made Control Panel happy and not declare the integrated graphics as an "unknown device" (even though it ran my monitor without error). It was after installing that driver that I confirmed that 800x480 was available on my machine and that it worked on my 800x600 monitor.
All of these are the latest available drivers for XP for their respective devices as listed here:
http://downloadcenter.intel.com/filt...l&submit=Go%21
I dunno why that 800x480 resolution works for me and not others. That was specifically mentioned as a fix for the BIOS version 065, but I think the GMA drivers are also needed to make it available. I didn't really test that feature at intermediate points.

I'm using the Addonics CD-IDE adapter, mounted in the PCI slot bracket (it does not use the PCI bus, of course).

Make SURE you are using an 80-conductor ribbon cable rated for ATA100 Ultra. If you are using the standard 40-wire cable that a lot of CD drives use, you will not get much speed at all.
I have not measured the transfer rate on mine, but I do have a CF card with Ubuntu Linux on it and it will boot from that faster than from my SATA hard disk, so I don't think I'm experiencing your same issues.

I used the cable that came with the motherboard at first then tried one that I knew worked and it made no difference. I should know its not the cable though because I can hook up two HDDs to it and they both run perfectly fine. Logic Supply was highly recommended to me by the guy that wrote the ewf cf setup instructions so I decided to give that a try, but it appears that maybe the CF card isn't the problem.
I wonder if it is a windows detection issue then, because the BIOS doesn't ever seem to have any issues with it and when it boots, the progress bar goes really quickly until the end, where it hangs (maybe moving it over to PIO mode).

I can also use the 800 X 480 resolution after upgrading my bios to the latest version. The tricky part i found was, that it could not be found in the list of available resolutions, I had to do some looking around as described in the C/P below:
Quote:
1) Right-click on a vacant area of your desktop (not over an icon or toolbar).
2) Choose Properties from the popup menu.
3) Choose the Settings tab.
4) Click on the Advanced button.
5) Choose the Adapter tab.
6) Click on the "List All Modes" button.
Now a question, has anyone run this board with the M3-ATX, or is it too power hungry for this little PSU

On my board the ide was ide 1 and the sata was ide 0, so xp would only install correctly on the sata port.
The mobi was on the sata and xp installed fine. And even opened windows at the end of the xp install. But after a restart of the system, disk error, and the disk was unreadable with xp running on the other drive. Never figured it out. Hope you get it sorted
I didn't see an answer to this posted, but just an FYI you need to install the SATA chipset drivers when installing XP at the beginning (F6 I think). Without them XP can sometimes be installed to the drive, but when you try to boot it won't work. Especially true the older the XP version!
You likely know this, but just trying to help educate the masses.

Thanks for all the info though.
Could you you take the custom firmware and open it in the Intel BIOS customizer; see what is there and compare to stock BIOS?
Maybe take the latest BIOS and mod it like your current customized BIOS?

Using this motherboard now with no problems so far. It's very quick thus far, I'm very pleased with it. I really don't think there is a much better choice for the price tag. Unless of course you want to get the Dual core version that is coming out.

I too am running the little falls set-up with no complaints other than the on-board video is only so-so at handling the skin fade transitions I am using on my front-end. Also, it's a pain to set-up correctly without tech support and/or forums such as these.
It actually does get pretty hot if you don't have adequate ventilation also..... Overall though, pretty sweet little carputer board for under 100.
