Intel D945GCLF (with integrated Atom 1.6Ghz CPU)

Hi

I wanted to upgrade my mobo, and i wanted to know if any of you guys have already tried this motherboard.

It looks interesting

The Atom-CPU is a perfect basis for a low-cost system. It works very energy saving and therfor is perfect for mobile usage. But also can be used as a server, Car-PC or Multimedia solutions.

Atom-CPU mainly was developed for the upcoming „Mobile Internet Devices“ (MID), which are fielded between notebooks and cell phones. „The processors were equipped in 45nm production with the worlds smallest transistors“, said Intels Vice President Sean Maloney.

As IT-world currently is crying for „GreenIT“ schreit, this mainboard can be the answer. For example Intel was able to reduce the power consumption of the CPU from precessor D201GLY2 from 20W to 2.05W, which is really incredible ! Here other mainboards can not compete with !

I'm just looking to something that can replace my actual system (see http://www.mp3car.com/vbulletin/gene...st1210810.html)

I'm oriented in a intel based mini-itx motherboard with a intel 740 pentium-M. I'd like to know more on these new low wattage platforms but I can't find any benchmarks.

It's an unofficial benchmark but really not a good result!!

Its going to be out in numerous versions.

But competition is not sleeping

VIA now claims Isaiah has two to four times the C7's per-clock throughput, depending on the application.

However, the upcoming Isaiah processor architecture promises performance that is comparable to or exceeds figures put up by Intel's current Celeron processors. Early CrystalMark benchmarks for a 1.0GHz Isaiah show it to be 280% faster in ALU performance and 190% faster in FPU performance than a comparable C7-M. The performance figures also show Isaiah to be comparable in performance to Celeron-M and Pentium-M processors of similar clock speeds.

The real test, however, will be to see how Isaiah stacks up to Intel's new Diamondville-based Atom processors which are destined for low-cost desktops and notebooks which are typically powered by Celeron processors. We don't yet have performance figures for any of Intel's Atom processors at the moment, but let's hope that for NVIDIA and VIA's sake that the new platform will be able to back up NVIDIA CEO Jen-Hsun Huang's "We're Going to Open a Can of Whoop ***" comment."

The VIA Isaiah may be mightier than the Atom processor but it consumes more power. 25W TDP at 2.0GHz

But there will be versions at 1.6 also and i bet they are under 20watts.
Its today standards but with better power.

And i think wikipedia is not an up to date article.

the boards total power usage seems similar to the celeron based boards, which are about 37W.

that processor might only use 2W of power, tho i guess the total usage looks like about 10W on average lower than the little valley ones. wonder if you really need the fan then on the processor.

So its not as quick as the celeron board, but the advantage would be to be able to keep it in standby for a few days.

Based on these two Crystal Mark charts we can see that a 1.2 Ghz Celeron 220 (D201GLY2) is almost equal in performance with a 1.6 Ghz Atom processor on the ALU operation. However, the FPU operations are a bit weaker on the Atom. So yes it's true, it's definitely slower than a Celeron, but not as drastic. There's so many Celerons out there, I wonder which he was referring to?

umm that graph is showing the two old/current intel boards, NOT the new atom
