04 Jetta LCD location

Hi guys, is there anyone here that has a 04 or simular model jetta? I need help in locating the LCD and where I can place it and I really don't want to take out my factory head unit. So if you have any good location ideas can you please send them to me it would be greatly appreaciated

im installing a computer in my '94 GTI with the same stock dash setup as your '94 jetta. im planning on revamping almost the entire dash to make room for the lcd and other features i want in it but there are a few options you have without completely rebuilding... you can mount the LCD in the storage/cup holder area like this...

if you didnt mind relocating the radio you could mount like this...

^it's kind of a big LCD... im guessing 10.4 inch or something like that

orrrrr you can do what i plan on doing... im planning on installing a 7" lilliput 629 in the center trim area. im going to relocate (or possibly convert to electronic controls) the fan speed, air temp, and air direction dials and also relocate all the buttons (rear defroster, p.locks, a/c, etc) similar to this 3d model...

it's not a complete model but it gives you an idea of the LCD fit. the outside dimensions are pretty close to the workable area you have in the dash and the LCD screen and bezel are dimensioned to the manufacturers specs of a lilliput 629. where the dash starts to angle backwards is the area that the ash tray and cigarette lighter is (the circles are areas allocated for toggle switches to control various functions). the cupholders in my opinion are useless so i may modify my design slightly to incorporate that space but ultimately i need my LCD to be as high as possible for viewability.

i was toying with the idea of putting the LCD up in the above trim area to replace the headunit spot and the air vents but im not sure about that just yet.

94/04 big difference, mp3car.com sales a bezel to locate a touch screen in place of your stock stereo

gives it an oem look, also you can locate the computer behind the screen with modifications then put a head unit in your glove box maybe? or go the amplifier route.

04 04 04 2004 I don't care about the 94 model and that link is for a trim bezel where the factory radio is. If you read my post it says I DON'T want to lose the factory radio. WOW 2004 1994 very big diffrence, mine is 2004.

Im not sure if the 2004 has a double din radio or single, my 2000 has a single din so i recommend a pop out screen to go on top of the single din radio and place the pc somewhere under the dash or glovebox, maybe under the seat? If it has the double din radio then either hack the dash or do a custom flip down where the sunroof goes but visibility would be neck breaking. i imagine you could build some type of mount to just mount a screen to the dash or tom-tom like to the windshield but then wires would most likely be visible. sacrafice your cd player and place it into your glovebox because you wont need it except to amplify sounds. if you did this you would set it to the loudest you like and then control the volume by the pc via touch screen or a knob and you would not have to look at the head unit again? take the options or leave them just dont be a jerk

ive got a 03 Bora (jetta 4 to yous in the us) and it has the double din. although some models have a storage tray in one of the spaces.
if youve got this storage space why not rip it out and put in a motorised one.

i did look at that option but would prices over here are double what they are for free standing ones (can fab it in place) so im doing the same as most others relocating the HU (dunno if its going in the glovebox or under the drivers seat) and my current guage setup down to where the ashtray is but will have to leave room for access to the diag. port.

other option if you dont have the storage tray and have the cd changer in its place you could move the changer to the glovebox and fit a motorised lcd in its place.
