I use the Bloat on my setup. The sound quality is outstanding, I have not heard better from a carPC. The thing literally is the size of a deck of cards, so it's nice and small. I've got all the upgrades that are listed here and on the Hippo Hi-Fi website.

I tried two different internal cards (Audigy II, and X-Fi), and three different external units (Audigy Extigy, M-Audio Firewire, Silverstone DAC) before I finally found this, and let me tell you, none of those even come close to how good the Bloat is. The M-Audio firewire was the best, but even that paled in comparison to the sound quality of the bloat.

As for external inputs, it is true that there are none, but most motherboards have onboard sound, which includes a line and mic input. I use the line input on my motherboard for the sound from mu XM adapter (via StreetDeck), which then reroutes the sound back out through the USB to the Bloat, and it works perfectly fine. Certainly, it is not quite as good as having an input directly on the Bloat, but it is close, and definitely worth the tradeoff for the sound quality of the Bloat.

Finally, as was mentioned, Brent is an active carPC user and will quickly answer any questions posed on his website, or via email to him.

Did I mention the great sound quality?

Volume will be controlled with the "WAV" slider only. So your frontend will need the option to choose that one as its main volume control.

Here's a link to a software that can get you around this problem if your frontend won't allow you to choose which slider its volume controls.

Yep, I suppose I should have made that more clear. Roadrunner does this as well as many others but some do not. Thanks t3!

Please let me know the shipment carrier that will be used to ship the item to Canada.
I'll be interested in placing the order if the shipment can be done via USPS (United States Postal Service).

Most Canadians here might agree that UPS is notorious for their hidden charges other than just customs duty. I recently paid $60 extra other than shipping for a $75 ebay item :-(

I guess this should help others (especially from Canada) as well to know the shipment options supported and approximating the landed cost.

Ok Brent got back to me last night on this, he does not use UPS for Canadian shipments, he uses his regular Australian mail carrier. He wasn't sure what his shipper does when the package arrives in Canada, but thought it got handed off to a Canadian shipper... Either way, he said he has shipped many, many units to Canada and has never had one complaint about outrageous customs chargers or shippers fees. Hope that help buddy!

If feasible, it might be a good idea to have a confirmed order counter so that everyone knows when we hit the threshold of 25.

Bloat Orders So Far - Mp3Car Official Count

9 orders total so far....at least 16 more to go.

I promise to keep this sale open for one month which will bring us into early July.
However please know, the sooner you order the less time you wait for your Bloat. Building will require a few weeks per 10 units and does not begin until this sale closes, so be prepared for a little wait if you are later to order.

I will post again when we hit 20.
