Yeah I picked up a 1 gig DDR2 667 Crucial from Newegg because it was the cheapest (like $17 with free shipping). Just ordered a 4th gen Mo-Co-So case. They said that they'll be in stock in 7-10 days. I've got a Seagate 120 gig 2.5 and M2-ATX from my last CarPC build. So far I've only checked the board to make sure it POSTs.
One issue is that the M2-ATX includes a 20 pin power plug and the board requires a 24 pin. I'm going to have to splice a 24 pin plug on there, and also create a P4 to P4 wire.

na, you just plug into the first 20 pins on the m/b and leave the last 4 empty.
have a look thru the paperwork that comes with the board, it shows you that in there too

I wouldn't replace the C7 for this board. The C7 boots like 5-6 seconds faster then this board.
The BIOS of this board loads dog slow even after disabling all the non-needed devices in the BIOS. Resuming from Hibernation is much slower then the C7 as well. The C7 comes out of hibernation in about 15seconds and the Intel board in 21+ seconds.

On my Jetway it takes about 4-5 seconds, have you tried with bios update??
I got a long time boot in the past with my mb, but i solved the problem updating bios...
I can't believe that a so wonderful motherboard like D945GCLF2 gives this problem, because for me is a problem, i've passed days and days trying to get fast boot times :/

Again, using hibernation and disabling all non-needed items in the BIOS of both boards and using a fresh OS install, the C7 beats this board by 5-6 seconds. Def. this is a problem with me and will not change my C7 for it.
This board would be perfect if it booted with the same speed as the C7 or better.
I measured boot time from the time the cpu fan starts to when the Front End is fully loaded and active.

When I first got it it was connected to 2 channel amplifier and everything worked well.
Then i decided to use 4-channel capability and configured appropriately in the software. Now line-in on the back of the board should be connected to rear speakers. When I restarted CPC I heard strong noise coming from rear speakers which lasted until PC booted (probably until Audio driver was loaded). Also, when driving later I noticed very silent but still noticeable whining noise that did not exist before.
I spent few hours researching noise/whining related posts and then even more hours trying out some possible solutions like rerouting wires, grounding CPC chassis, moving grounding point to what seemed to be a better location - nothing helped.
I guess there is something wrong with this blue input/output jack that is used as rear output in 4-channel mode. It produces noise till the driver is loaded like if "line-in" is the default mode and is switched to rear spk output mode only when driver is loaded (same noise reproduced when switching to 2-channel mode with rear speakers connected to line-in jack).
If anyone knows a solution, I'd be glad to hear about it. Meanwhile, I just reverted back to using 2-channel mode and connected rear and front speakers to the amp to same jack from CPC (regular "green" spk output).
No complaints about other components, very nice mb wrt performance.
Intel support just confirmed that the noise from the blue jack configured as rear speaker out in 4 channel mode (line-in in normal mode) during boot (or return from hibernate) is expected behavior. So if anyone was planning to use this MB in 4 channel mode - not a right choice, unless you do not mind hearing strong noise for 2-3 seconds during boot and constant static noise (sounds like HD noise - probably bad internal shielding, grounding the chassis will not help probably).

I'm using 4 channels in my setup and I've not got any of the noise while booting...

I certainly plan on going the 4-channel route with a car pc in the nearby future. If it were to install a soundblaster card, would this resolve the 2-3 sec of noise, and constant whining?
Thanks!!

Why not use a serial port to turn on/off the Amp, this way you won't hear any noises when Windows XP boots and initializes the audio?

Thanks for the suggestion Blackstealth!
That would certainly be a cheaper option, however I don't believe that would solve the constant sound that some people are hearing. Along with my current subwoofers, I plan on upgrading the factory speakers so I really want the best possible solution. I would hate to spend all that money & for the factory sound to come out better.
I have a SB Audigy 2z(s?) Platinum blah blah in my current PC. I would certainly get alot more use out of it with the carPC if needbe. Although, I don't know if it would fit the mini-itx. hmmm...
