Wireless USB hubs anyone?

has anyone considered using a wireless usb hub like this one (http://catalog.belkin.com/IWCatProdu...duct_Id=377793) to cut down on wires or used one in general?

i know that sometimes cable length can have a negative affect on the functionality of some products hooked to usb, and i would think that this product would eliminate that problem.

What do you all think, because i think i might get it. if not for my car, then for my dorm.

truthfully, I think hardwiring is the way to go. You will have a more positive connection. With wireless devices there is usualy a delay during connectivity.
Also you will have a much more stable connection with hrd wiring. A lot of things may contribute to interference with connecting wirelessly.
But what do I know... Give it a try and report back. Sounds interesting.

I was thinking about this as well. I seen it for $49.99 yesterday and I would have jumped on it if I had a completed carPC. If I find the sale again I'll be sure to post it!

I have the Belkin wireless ethernet hub which connects thru my router at home. The external hard drives are tooooooooo freaking slow via wireless. I have to connect via ethernet to use them. So I would have to agree wired is the way to go. Im doing my install now and I have some of the plastic tubing from office depot to consolidate all my wiring.

This wireless USB can't be using 802.11 Wireless. USB 2.0 has to run at 480Mb/s at High Speed (USB 1.1 maxes out to 12 at Full Speed). USB 3.0 when it comes out later this year will run to 5.0Gb/s in Super Speed.

802.11b runs at 11M half duplex, and the a/g standards only at 52. Even 802.11n only runs to 155Mb/s.

It must be something else proprietary within the unlicensed frequency band to get 480Mb/s! Which would go some way to explaining the high cost...
