1. it only has a 4 gig drive. i am definitely using windows b/c of future plans (dvds, gps, etc). what kind of options do i have for extended storage? there is a cd in it, but that is only another 650 mB.
You can buy a bigger laptop Hard Drive. I know they are up to 14 gig and maybe larger with those. Or get an external USB hard drive and carry it in or out to update your song collection.

2. the display that i am looking at uses ntsc outputs. since the laptop only has a standard moniter port on it, am i out of luck anyway? or is there a way to convert the signal so that i can use the laptop with the ntsc display?
Yeah, you can get a converter. I'm not sure where or how much, but this question has come up before. Maybe try searching the back discussions. Also, if you are interested in DVD, you can get PCMCIA DVD-ROM and PCMCIA Decoder card here.
