Talking powering Zotac ION N330 with M2-ATX

Hi Guys

I am trying to build my first carPC and have the following components:
Zotac ION N330 1.6 Atom motherboard
4GB Kingston RAM
M2-ATX power supply
VoomPC 2 case
HDD and DVD RAM drive

I have installed all the components onto the VoomPC 2 plate and am now trying to connect all the bits together. I dont seem to be able to understand how to power the motherboard from the M2. There is no 24 pin connector on the Zotac motherboard. I am able to run the power from the case to the M2-ATX.

I have searchid on Google and dont see to find any solution with my motherboard and the M2-ATX power supply.

If anyone has some insight it will be most appreciated.

TIA

T

Which Zotac Ion board did you get?

The Zotac Ion-A-U has a 19v input that you'd want to use one of the other power supplies.
The Zotac Ion-D-E has the ATX power connector that almost any ATX style power supply should be able to handle.

I'm not sure what the advantage of either are.... maybe somebody else will chime in....

Sorry.....

from what i have read, the board with the 19v input is marketed as a super compact pc-- the 19 volt power adapter allows everything to be in a very small case, and the power supply can be located outside of the case.

if your board doesn't have a atx connector, then it will probably need a 19v power supply

Thanks for the response guys

I do indeed have the Zotac Ion-A-U board that is fed by an external; 19V supply. I have however read that these boards can be powered by the M2-ATX. I was just wondering how that would be done. I am loath the purchase a DC-AC converter for the car and then run the board off the 19V supply. But looks like this might be the easiest solution. Will continue to scour the net to see if there is another solution out there.

Thanks

You're not going to be able to power teh A-U variant with an M2ATX.
It doesn't put out 19v, plain and simple.

You don't want an inverter, and I can understand why.
Maybe look into a Carnetix.

This is another example of why planning your setup thoroughly is so important.
