DVD ROM decoder?

I bought a 16x Sony DVD ROM on ebay, and I want to use it with my carputer. I do not have all the parts yet (to build the carputer), so I haven't tried it, but I seem to recall needing some sort of decoder for it. I have a VIA EPIA 5000 Mini-ITX MB. I tried to find this information, but I have had no luck.

The DVD ROm will play DVD just get some dvd software like Power DVD,if you had the decorder card it would do the
processing instead your CPU.memory andvideo card having to do all the work.....
