Ok i just installed my version of windows 2000 lite on my WD 36.7gig 10k HD. The motherboard i used was a ALBATRON PX865PE PRO w/512ddr. And a 2.4ghz P4. For more info on making your own 2000/xp lite go

Anyways, where should i begin.
Visuals:
Ok imagine no bulky ide cables in your computer. Wow! Now imagine being able to mount an HD anywhere (ie screwed on the wall, lol). Wow! Imagine not fighting with the HD to get th power connector out. Fabulous! Now look at this pic.

The mini data cables were more then enough to convince me to go out and get a sata hd.
Speed:
Before i talk about how incredibly fast my HD is. I have to remind you that i have my version of 2000lite. It's just a windows 2000 that didn't install IE or Media player.
It took about 15minutes to install 2000 on the HD with a 52x cdrom. And the
second time i booted was extremely fast. Now, watching windows boot is like watching your cable modem download a small mp3 (<128kb) for the first time. The speed sickens me. under 15 seconds without hibernation. I havent tried hibernation yet. I can assume it's breath taking though.
The HD is only 36.7 gigs. But the 10k rpm makes up for the small space. I paid $130 for this hd. Comes with a cd and cables and some screws.
2 thumbs up
