AMP problems....again

Well, a few months ago my amp stopped working. After a day or two, it came back on. I thought it may have been a bad ground, but it wasnt. I think it was just the remote start wire loose.

Anyway, for the past month or so, my carputer has been VERY shady. With the cold my computer has only been on for 3 days or so? and for those 3 days I had to disconnect the power and reapply it, a couple of times, for it to catch. Finally about 2 weeks ago i was driving into work, and i had music. on the way home....no music. the amp wouldn't turn on. I checked the fuse, and the power to the unit. The wires provide the 12volts it needs, but when it is hooked up to the amp, it only reads as 2.96. even if the amp isnt plugged into anything and I stick the multimeter into the power and group ports, i get that reading.

I have contacted the place I bought it, and the manufactor. The manufactor said that beacuse it wasn't an autorized retailer, id have to pay a repair cost...of $256!, the amp cost $199 brand new. Im still waiting to hear back from the place I bought it, but does anyone have any idea why this is freaking out?
