Laptop Drive install questions (pics)

All right guys, the drive in the laptop started to click, couldn't get into it the OS, I popped it out and hooked it to my desktop...tried to reformat and it won't work...anyway, it's still under warranty (the laptop that is). But if I don't put it back in correctly, they'll raise an eyebrow. I need to make sure that I am putting it back in...this is where I need your help...I hooked it up up and down, (look at pics). and nothing shows up in the bios...so it's really dead....BUT I can't REMEMBER HOW IT WAS INSTALLED...take a look at the pics, let me know which one is correct.
label up or label down.

I service those compaq series laptops on a daily basis, and have one sitting right next to me (hehe). TOP side goes up with the ide cable running along the top, regardless of how it looks, thats how it goes
