AM/FM USB radio, and more: RadioShark
Has anyone seen the RadioShark from Griffin Technologies? This looks like it might be even better then the Hauppauge (in terms of radio) because it does AM as well.

The software it comes with allows you to time shift with it, eg, get Tivo style functionality. You can schedule radio shows to record, then listen to them delayed and skip commercials.
THIS would be a very thing to add to a carputer, because unlike the D-Link and other radio solutions, you aren't just replicating functionality in a car stereo, you're actually doing something that a car stereo can't.

1. Tivo like functions come from the software, not the radio card.
2. This device seems to be for mac.
3. Houppauge is good because they have a Coax connector and you can more easily find an adapter to connect to your car's antenna.

1. As I mentioned in my post.
2. I emailed Griffin and they promise PC support as well.

I also contacted griffin a few weeks ago - PC version will be available, just like the powermate.
This is definately something I will want to try within my carputer - I need AM radio for traffic reports on montreal's AM channels every 9 minutes, and its the about only AM tuner on the market...
I don't want to have to rely on a computer/head unit setup... computer only seams to be better.

well, I didn't think I'd place that on top of my roof... heard of poping open a product and hack your views into it?
I would connect to an alternate antenna, like the one I already have on my car, which is made for radio purpose... :P

I wish they would release it already I want to have AM and FM in my car. I dont really care about the time-shift but AM FM is good. Any chance this will get integrated into MediaCar or MediaEngine?

The easyist way to integrate hardware support into mediacar and mediaengine is to buy the hardware and send it to either Coyote or Carcomp (respectivly). Think of it as doing your part to make sure that the hardware gets supporting in an application that is free.

Just got off the phone with Griffin and the sales guy said it is supposed to be out in April but he doesn't think that they are gonna make that date. He suggested calling back around the end of the month.
