Has anyone ever had an m10000 krap out on them , ok, so it's not dead , but the primary ide channel is , it doesn't recognize any devices anymore and i didn't do anything out of the ordinary to it , just booted it a few times , did xp updates then pfft gone , 2ndary works fine still , primary gives "verifying pool data" and then it goes to invalid disk , blah blah and press enter.. just sucks gotta rma it , just got it yesterday.. --Josh

No.

but I think a hint is that you did XP updates.

Boot from the XP cd. see if it will repair the install.

If you cannot...then put a different drive in the machine. Recheck the bios settings.

Standard PC troubleshooting.

Yes, =\ my first thought was omg drive died , switched the drive to 2nd channel worked fine.. at that point i knew it wasn't the drive or the cable but tried it anyway, new drive <--even a cd drive and new cable.. same results , bios doesn't see them and windows <--if i put the hd on the 2ndary channel defiantely doesn't see them

This definately rings a bell with me! I had the same problem when building mine, f****d if I can remember how I sorted it though!

Sorry, if I find anything in my sieve-like memory I'll let you know.....but it did work in the end!

I had that problem also however mine turned out to be the cable. It was really strange because when I plugged my hard drive using that cable in the primary IDE channel, it would not work but when I put the same cable in the secondary it worked. At first I did not believe it but after trying consistently for two days with the same results over and over again I got fed up and pulled a cable from my desktop and that solved my problem. Funny thing is that cable now works fine in my desktop. When I'm up to it I plan on changing it before I start having problems.

hmmmm I think I planned on changing that cable over two months ago
