Question hooking up the Jeff Muchas shutdown controller?

hi everyone,

so my Muchas shutdown controller came today, but i have a quick question about hooking it up. I see there is a Vin, GND, GND, Vout and AUX connectors. Obviously I know what Vin, Vout and GND. I assume AUX is the ACC wire, since there is nowhere else it would go, but what I am confused about is the second GND. In the diagram on the PDF on Jeffs site it looks like the shutdown controller takes in a Vin and GND and puts out Vout and GNd (which both go to the PSU?????) and then the PSU is grounded seperately?

Is this right? It seems coutner intuitive that i would feed the PSU a GND and then ground it. Shouldnt i jsut feed the PSU the Vout and ground it? What am i missing?

Thanks for any info. Jeffs site is Mpegbox.com and there is a link there to the solotronix store which has the shutdown controller/spec sheet.

The second ground is just a place to connect the power supply ground if you don't connect it to the chassis. If you look at the board, they are just tied together.

In most applications, people connect ground in and Vin to the battery, then you have a power supply with Vout and ground out, you connect them to the SDC. In your case ground is ground and you don't have to connect the other lug to anything if you don't want to.

Ground in and out are interchangable.
