Laptop Install Help!!!

Hi guys I have a Dell laptop and have had te idea to install in my car for years. Now financially it's in reach. I need some advice about how i will power the laptop. Don't want anything permanent because I use the laptop in my house. Also on cattft.com they have a lliput screen an a screen that resembles the xenarc screen. Is the one which looks like xenarc actually the same as a xenarc.

I have purchased Infomap Navigator with a Haicom GPS mouse. Now all I need is an inverter (don't know which one) and a screen.

Any suggestions/tips on what to use, problems I may come across, or compnents which i have missed or some general advice would be much appreciated.

Thanks!!!!!!

but ok..

non permanent way to hack the power of a laptop is with a docking station. and even then it might not work as desired.

if you use a laptop, mount it as one with a proper mount. so you dont have to buy the screen, input devices, cables...

no the lilliput and xenarc are not the same, even if they look close enough.

any inverter will technically work.

I Totally agree, if you want to use a laptop, find the docking station! it will save you tons of grief and make installation a snap!

Should also be able to find a dc adaptor (usually called an Auto/Air adaptor) for the unit, so forget the invertor! Why go dc to ac back to dc

search on eBay..should be able to find both items there

Just get any inverter with anywhere between 100 and 200 watts - this will be plenty to power a laptop. Then simply plug in the laptop in the inverter like you would plug it into your wall at home. To connect the laptop to your car's audio without gutting anything, the best way is to use a wired FM modulator.
Search for those on eBay - you should be able to set it all up for less than $80 bucks, trust me.
