Solution for AM Radio in Carputer
Hey all, just found a possible solution for FM AND AM radio in the car.
Check out this USB to ISA adapter, plus the specific one I am linking to, is an external case to hold the ISA card.
http://www.arstech.com/isa-ra-b1.htm
You could use it in conjunction with the Cadet PC Radio ISA card...
http://cgi.ebay.com/ws/eBayISAPI.dll...&category=3282
What do you guys think? Possibility?

ummm.... *must resist flaming you*
Some radio programs that people enjoy listening to are only on AM. Such as a large number of talk shows which AM is perfectly suited for. A lot of sports radio is on AM as well.
I too am looking for a good AM PC solution, but I'm to lazy to deal w/ a USB isa bridge.

Ummm, hockey games are broadcast on AM up here...have been on the same AM station since day 1. No need to have voice on FM, so they stick to AM.

EQUIVALENT to $15 up here. I don't mean to be rude, just, I can't get XM, nor do I don't want XM (ya know some people are paying mortgages here). Am would be nice for Hockey games, local news etc...
I know there are quite a few people that want AM, don't knock the fact that we want it, we just do, even tho XM is availble to some people and some people love it. I am not knocking it, just wanting to show people solutions for AM.

You'd be better off getting a shortwave radio with the capability to hook to the serial port, then you could write software to control that radio. Then you could really get some signals- shortwave, police scanners, FM/AM etc...

the radioshard from griffin is coming, I'll look at that USB solution when the finally release it. AM/FM, instant recording. that will do the trick for me I think.
in the meanwhile, I have a radio unit on my car for AM radio.

The griffin looks like the best so far, but here's my wish list for
USB audio connection (like radioshark)
External antennae connection (?)
standard, stereo and high definition broadcast support (?)
