ATI All in Wonder 7500 VE screen res question
Does anyone know if I can get this card to support 800x480 in Windows XPpro? Of course it is for my Lilliput TSD.
Thanks!!

If you are doing a true 16:9 ratio wouldn't you want 848 x 480?
Also, you can set the res. in your registry without the use of an external app.
Under: HKEY_CURRENT_CONFIG\System\CurrentControlSet\Contr ol\VIDEO
Under one of the Keys you will see another key "0000" and under that another one "Mon 10000080". Select that key and you will see two data enties, one at the bottom, "DefaultSettings.YResolution", and another second from the bottom, "DefaultSettings.XResolution". You will see their current value is what your current resolution is. just edit the value for each and your set.
NOTE: Some registries will have more than one "Mon 10000080" entry under multiple keys under VIDEO. Just change one resolution at a time and reboot untill the res. changes to what you want.
Hope this made sense.

Thanks guys...I'll try the registry hack first and if that doesn't work, I guess I will purchase Powerstrip. My screen is native 800x480 so that's what I was looking for. And yes, it is a Radeon chip.

I don't know, dog. I asked the same question to a couple guys here that have the ATI All-In-Wonder VE and they said it would not do 848x480 (or 800x480 either). I would double check with someone that has one.
Later,
Tom

I have a Radeon and it works great at 848 X 480. Granted it's a 9200 but I was able to do it with my older 7500 with no issues as well.

Go to www.htpcnews.com and read up over there. They have mastered the art of getting AIW cards to output at whatever resolutions they want (for their TVs/HDTVs).

I have a Radeon 8500 and have been unsuccessful at getting it to work at 848x480 using powerstrip. I'll have to try the registry edit that Defiler posted and see if that works.

Also check the forums at www.htpcnews.com cause they have a forum just for resolutions/powerstrip. If no one here can help, they definitely will be able to.

That's good news. Now I can go buy the PCI AIW VE! Cool!
