Put computer into standby/hibernate = firewire cdrom driver stops working

Every time I hibernate or go into standby, when I come back my firewire cdrom stops working, that is, every time i try to access the cdrom, it says the "device or network share is no longer available". I have to unplug the firewire driver then plug it back in for it to work again. This is sorta putting a wrench in my glorious carputer setup which otherwise is working great.

Anyone run into this? Any solutions?

Thanks,
-Jason
