Arrow PLZ LOOK:) POWER, ALTERNATOR NOISE, FLICKERING and FUN stuff (dash and gps):)

Hello everyone!
Let me begin by saying tht I thought up of this idea on 4/20/2004 LOL Everything runs, but some adjustments re still needed and I would really appreciate your advise!
I have a Honda Accord 98 V6 (yes, a rice rocket, but I my parents thought it was a great investment 3 years ago. I have a Clarion mp3 player in it, and a Panasonic LCD monitor (I did not know how to custom fit a liliput touchscreen into the dashboard ) and I have a computer from industrial_flower_factory from ebay http://cgi.ebay.com/ws/eBayISAPI.dll...e=STRK:MEWN:IT AND IT ALREADY has a dc/dc adapter inside and requires a 12v input. I tried to make this easy on myself. things are alright...but some problems arose recently.
Please help out and share somehting you might know:

1)The acternator noise and screen flickering. I read a lot of threads and I see that I ran the RCA wires with the POWER cables!@ I am slow and stupid and dont deserve to live. sound should be ok, but when i tried connecting the video rca away from the power wires, the screen flicker more. If anyone knows how to help the flickering (maybe its the power..or the wires ) please help me wiht that

2) THE MAIN PROBLEM: powering. I connected the carputer to the lighter wires. It powers fine when the key is turned once (engine off), but when I try to turn the carputer on after i turn the engine on, the led light on the computer goes on, but the fan and the whole system doesnt . I have to drive or stay idle for a minuite or two and then the computer will power on. IS the currency different in the lighter initially when the car is on? is running wires to the battery going to help the problem? (I didnt want to drill, thats why i ran them to the lighter wires) Please help friends I am also begining to be annoyed that the carputer turns off everytime i turn the key.

3) If anyone have molded the liliput screen into their accord dashboard..please tell me how..adn what you did...it would help my confidence and i would go for midifying my dashboard

4) ANYONE LIVE IN WEST HOLLYWOOD WHO HAS A CARPUTER? it would be cool to meet ppl with this new phenomina

LASTLY: will the gps mouse have good reception being attached to the back window (tinted dark)? and is there any better program except destinator taht you would reccomend tahn my bootleg Microself Mappoint that i got from irc (hah Bill!)..works well..but does it have voice features like TURN LEFT..or exit..u know what i mean

THANK YOU SO MUCH EVERYONE! I RELLY DO APPRECIATE ALL YOUR HELP AND ADVISE!!!!
PICTURES COMING VERY SOON!!!!!!!!!!! on this thread

What type of rca leads are you using ? are they shielded and earthed right ?.. As for the problem your having with cracking.. this seems a common problem, the best way would be to get some sort of shutdown controller and wire it direct to your battery. This may resolve that problem.. Does you screen flicker when you engine isnt running ?

all is solved...but the Power supply

Yep, the screen does flicker when the car is off. I dont know if I am shootting in the dark, but could it be that the power supply jumps between 12v and 13 v, and tahts why the screen flickers? But shouldnt be happening while the car is off. Maybe I sould go buy an s-video cable. will try that.
THE sound is great. fixed that. The only problem taht is major is the computer not turning on for the first few minutes after the car started. I think to solve this, I will definitelly connect the carputer directy to the battery wit ha switch in between. Today on the way to the beach, the computer just turned off...so the power supply seems a little wack coming out of the lighter . Any thoughts of what a good power supply set up would be?
MAN I am so excited this works...its amazing!great stuff guys and girls

pictures coming

RCA LEADS are not shielded...they are actually just ones that came off the back of my tv ...work fine...jut the video one (flickers)...thats annoying..

should i paint my gps receiver white like my car? to color match...will that corrupt the reception?
THANKS

right
someone in the other threads said that....also (in other threads) it was said that some ppl have the gps device under the car body/shell (this guy had a corvette with a plastic body)....so i used the car paint from pep boys...looks nice so happy, works
++++++
well.AH! i have read up & down this thing and the more i read the more i feel like a noob...hmmmm..lol well i have a problem figuring out if all i need is an OPUS...I have a DC 62.40 Watt power supply in the computer...and more details of the computer are in the link in the first thread...
Oh i think i am confusing myself! TIME TO ASK NOOB QUESTIONS..but once i learn..i can help others and not be a noob

Ok lets organize:
1. i am using 12gauge wires...and i dont think its a good idea to use such high gauge, since when i turn the car on, the computer will not power for the first 2-3 minutes..its like it doesnt have enough power..works fine when the key is turned once though-engine off. I checked the voltage after crank...above 10V. Will an OPUS save me or will a dc-dc regulator-inverter do it (the carputer needs 12v and 4A)...regulator or opus? i donno

2. does not survive the crank! obviously........will opus 90W help me survive the crank...and will it benefit with lower gauge wires? will i need a tank? opus seems to replace what i have in the box (i will take a pic and post it up tomorrow)

3. i dont know what doides do? or relay (i dont need them...but good to know) my father was a physics proffesor...but i havent seen him in 8 years...wish i could ask him

4. is it a good idea to wire the (+) to the 0 gauge wire running to the 1000W amp?

5. any programs out there that can help me make my windows resolution widescreen...i have not been able to figure out how to change the resolution in the computer i got to be widescreen...could not find helpful post either myVIA EPIA-M10000 has only standard resolutions in the adapter res list. I heard somehting about OLD BIOS...more on this tomorrow

THANK YOU SO MUCH AND I AM SORRY FOR BEING SO GOOD TO ME MP3CAR.com members. I know i am an *** for getting a ready box...well almost ready, but I thought of this on 4/20/2004... and since then it has been crazy studyign for finals...soi knew i would have no time to make my own system Thank you...thank you thank you again

CdRsKuLL thank you for the info about the crank...do you think the shutdon controller is going to help survive the crank and will let the computer boot up in the first few minutes after the engine is turned on? i am hating these power problems

alright i have finally found an excelent thread
http://www.mp3car.com/vbulletin/show...ht=m10000+bios
and seeing that the power coming into the PW-70a (http://www.mp3car.com/store/product_...products_id=29) is not regulated so yes, cdrskull, i now understand why a shutdown controller will help by regulating power. I hope this works...i will try it tomorrow 5/17/2004

POWER OPTIONS SOLVED:
CHOOSE:
OPUS or (ITPS + PW70 {and prefferably a tank..although i have trouble finding one })

pw70 + itps works at my friends when the car is off and at acc power

SO: here are the options:

1. [BATTERY]----+---->[opus]----->[Motherboard]
2. [BATTERY]----+-->[tank]-->[itps or regulator]------>[pw-70]--->[motherfu*** I MEAN board]

NOW I HAVE TWO MORE QUESTIONS THAT I HOPE WILL HELP OTHER PPL TOO:
1. does anyone have a guide how to build a tank...i am os tired reading the threads and going nowhere...
2. itps is a shutdown controller also...so what if i just get a universal dc dc regulator? i can shut down manually (have a switch on the dashboard...so when i flick it, the bios will tell the computer to power on, but then i have to shut down myself, which is fine)
and if my pw-70 wants 62w and 4A...what kind of power regulator specs do i need?

THANKS
