Post Mobo IR connectors

Hello,
I was wondering if it would be possible to use some kind of device that hooks up to the IR connectors on the mobo (like http://www.actisys.com/act210.html) and be able to use the IR winamp plugins and other various IR applications. The reason why I ask this is because I need the two serial ports and I'm not sure if the serial communication is different than the communication with the IR connectors, or whatever. I'm not really up with IR devices so any info would be greatly appreciated.

Wrong, this can be done. You just have to make sure that you use a plugin designed for this, and not for serial ports.

Thanks for clearing that up. Is there any software (for winamp purhaps) that would be able to use the mobo IR connectors? Or would it be too far fetched for something that can act as a translation layer between moboIR and serial IR signals?

I found this at the plugin/skin section at www.winamp.com:
http://www.winamp.com/customize/deta...mponentId=7914

I have no time for reading the text now, so maybe this is what you need, but then again, maybe it isn't. You'll have to see for yourself.

Aye, I know what you're talking about pcman. I was thinking about just putting together something like this, but I'm trying to get away from using another serial port, blah. Was worth a shot though.
