Fastest Mini Motherboard...

Hey im new here and i was about to start my project over the summer, but i was wondering if you guys can tell me the the fastest Mini Motherboard is out there... I know the Epia v1000 is the most popular but i was wondering if the load up is fast (meaning like when i turn it on, i shouldn't have to wait like a couple of minutes, it should be up and running in 1 minute or 1.5 minutes).

Along with it being fast, the motherboard, I hope would have all the things necessary for all the stuff i want it to do... such as: TV, Nav, Music, Movies, and all the other things that the Epia V1000 can do...

fastest mini would be the p4 mobo.

fastest C3 based would be the m10000 board

people are getting roughly 45 seconds with decent optimizations. that wasnt fast enough for me, so i went to mATX and a boot time of roughly 30 seconds.

how much did the mATX cost you and where did u get it at?

is there a difference besides boot up time from the mATX and the V1000?

I get a 15 second boot time and I use an Epia MII 10k.
I believe Epia has a pentium 4 board but I never really looked at it. For everything you mentioned 1 gigs is just fine.

damn thats fast, what os are you using and what optimizations have you done?

I have an EPIA MII 10k. I'm running XP and have done no speed mods, except to ensure that very little additional software starts at boot...

My boot time to music is 25 seconds. Remember one very key point... a lot of the boot time is during disk read / write... a fast hard disk and fast / reliable RAM is also important!

Epia MII 10k mobo with 512 megs of pc2700 (I know board takes up to a 2100) and a 60 gig 2.5" 5400 rpm 16 meg cache drive.

Windows XP PRo corporate ed with latest updates.
I did some thing where you change a decimal value from 3 to 5 or so. If you search on google you'll find it. Now I don't think this really helped but it can't hurt.

And hibernation is key, hibernate your comp and shutdown with hibernate evertime. Simple enough right?

Out of interest, see http://www.jsiinc.com/SUBJ/tip4700/rh4710.htm on ways to measure the startup and potential areas to investigate.

Finally, you can mess around with startup settings in MSCONFIG to try to reduce that envelope further.

Booting in 15 secs is different than coming out of hibernation in 15 seconds.

So, your boot time is around 45 secs then?
