usb radio
Just for everyones info. D-link has a usb radio for $30 at buy.com. It comes in a plastic case but looks like it could easily be mounted inside an existing player.
The antenna is connected with an rca type connector so you could probably lengthen it if needed.
wave files to mp3.
Even comes with software to record radio
Works pretty good.

I'm pretty sure the software won't work without the actual radio.

mp3car system is currently FUBAR and finances do not allow for a correction of that situation

Or PCI for that matter...
I found some PCI to ISA adaptors, and Gutter found me a USB to ISA adaptor, but they all be uber pricey at >$100, which is a little steep...

when my only other option is a pcr100 which is no longer in production or a pcr1000 which costs around 350 (if you can find it) $100 for a usb->ISA + $7 for the card may be worth it (assuming it works)

I'm thinking that the PCI cards that have TV are looking like my only option. I never listen to AM anyway, but it would have been nicer not to lose any functionality...

just run a wire from the Dlink antenna to the base of your car antenna.

Making a D-link->car antenna adapter
its really easy...I have one of these radios and I had planned on putting it in the truck after installing some amps--goodbye headunit!
anyway, the antenna conector for the D-Link is just an RCA Jack, so what I did was wen to radioshack and bought some RCA plug ends. Then I went to Wal*Mart and bought an antenna adapter for universal->GM. my vehicle is GM, so I needed the adapter to accept the GM antenna wire. I cut off the male end (which would normally plug into your aftermarket radio) and soldered the inner wire to the inner part of the plug. I connected the sheilding to the outer part of the RCA connector. Voila!
