Exclamation leave LCD backlight on all the time???

I am curious what you guys think about leaving LCD backlights on all the time. I have a 4x40 LCD,and can easily make a switch to turn it off/on, but it would be easier to just leave it on all the time. I dunno about the backlight wearing out over time...

Any suggestionz ?!?

The LCD backlight (LED once im talking about) have life span of 50000 hours.
So its up to you to decide.

Why don't you just power it from the PC itself? If the PC is on, then the backlight is on, etc.

Well, yeah Rob - that's what i was thinking.

I guess i did not explain myself very well.
I can:

1.backlight ALWAYS on while computer is on

or

2.switch backlight on/off (depending on daylight/nighttime) while computer is on

thx..

I have a 4x40 Timeline Parallel LCD with a HD44780 Chip, When I leave it on for 15 min + , it gets VERY hot and I turn off the backlight with a 12v switch until it cools down
