6yr old first install died 20/8/2005 as result of bad bios flash.

New system : 6x5x2" contains 1GHz C3 PCM9373, ISR based PSU, 512Mb flash DOM, 8Gb CF HDD, 98Lite, DirectShow based frontend.
GPS : Rikaline 6010.
Display : LTM08C351 + LVDS receiver.

What I'd give to know what the heck he did to be able to use that notebook DVD rom with his IDE cable.

It looks like he had a 44-pin (notebook) to 40-pin IDE adaptor on it. Seems reasonable to me.

I know that adapter is available for the notebook harddisk.. but for the DVD?

Both optical drives and hdds use (E)IDE so I wouldn't see why it wouldn't work.

You can use the adapter with any slim EIDE unit.
This project is a good piece of work but I can't find any info on this MB (I'm curious about the dimensions related to EPIA)

It's a slightly different adapter for HD and CD/DVD (slim CD/DVD appearently have more pins to carry audio). Slimline CD-Rom adapters should be found anywhere that sells HD adapters.
