Question Aux. input adapter vs equalizer

I have a Sony head unit without Aux input. To be able to play my MP3 unit I have to use XA-107 adapter, which cost about 100$.But I thought it may be better for this price buy an equalizer unit that already has RCA inputs.Does anybody use an equalizer in his system? I never heard the sound that comes out from equalizer in car,but I heard that it improves it.What do you guys think: equalizer or XA-107?

I have not seen a quality equalizer with 2 sets of inputs for less than $100. The more components in a system, the more potential for noise to be added as well. I'd spend the $100 for the XA-107.
