anyone know of something like this?
I was browsing around and came across this.
http://www.turboxs.com/Dtec/dtec.shtml
I was just wondering if anyone knew of something similar to this system? I would be wanting a 'brain' unit (like the GBA) that outputs to a LCD (via composite, VGA, etc). The idea of it would be to make a custom dash LCD...

I appriciate your link. One problem. I was thinking more along the lines of sensors actually detecting everything (water temp, EGT, fuel pressure, boost, etc).
The reason for this? My car is not OBD-II compliant.
edit: I just saw that my description wasn't the worded the best... I mean I want to hook up individual sensors to detect certain things, feed into some sort of box, and then output to a LCD
similar to Defi's (the company) Control Unit.

http://www.phidgets.com ? That's basically a USB A/D converter, if you want to hook sensors up manually to your PC. If not, I'm not exactly sure what you mean.

i wonder if that device actually uses the GBA for processing or just as a display.
After taking a closer look at the product you can only use it if you have a TurboXS UTEC Engine Management System. Which probably cost an arm and a leg

The problem is I don't know how to code. I need something already programmed. I could manually attach all the sensors and things.
Ideally I want to create something like this ( http://www.stackltd.com/streetdash1.html ). Without the pricetag, and with a color LCD with programmable gauges.

I don't see where it says that. I believe it is saying you can use your GBA to tune the car in conjunction with the UTECH system if you have it. Otherwise, you can still use just a GBA + DTECH to display all the outputs.

Please note that this feature will not be immediately available to DTEC users but will require a free future software upgrade available late 2004.

Check out LabView . It's a data acquisition suite that is graphically programmed. It's not cheap, but it would do what you want. Check that...it friggin expensive. But it will do what you want.
