After following Enforcer's instructions, IBUSCOMM.exe runs.
When you do run it, you might think it has done nothing - but look down at your taskbar and it will be there, running minimized.
Click it on your taskbar and you can see a log, simulate a IBUS message, exit the program, etc. Now I just need Rolf's connector (sent him paypal money but have not yet received a confirmation). Funny how some of us start with the hardware then search for the software and vice versa
Anyone else with an e39 (especially M5 with the widescreen NAV) who can post their learning experiences? It would be very helpful to learn from others who have already mapped keys to various buttons. I'd like to take advantage of a bunch of the buttons from the radio/nav and maybe even map a command to "PAUSE" my player when the cell phone "MUTE" command is sent to the radio/CD.
Come on with the stories please!
Paul

If you asign Ibuscomm to a application, the application must be runnning before starting the ibuscomm app.. if its not, it will hang in the background until the application is started.. so if its in the taskmanager and not on your taskbar, then its waiting for the application its going to control to start, if the applictation is already started then you have got the window name wrong in the ini file.

How do I send signals to the IBUS? I tried using IBUS Analyzer 1.0.0.11 and sending it through that. It's log says the message was sent correctly, but the HU doesn't react.
For example, I tried to send "5004683B0106" (without quotes) which is steeringwheel up, but the HU doesn't respond with the right action.
Does anyone know how to do this?

...and does anybody what do I have to write the .ini file for capturing WINAMP application?
I mean, when Winamp plays a song, the title of the application includes this song, and it adds "Winamp" at the end (like "1. With or without you - Winamp")
I have tried configuring ibus with "Winamp" "*Winamp" "<*Winamp*>" "<* Winamp *>" but the ibus doesn't capture the application.
Please, I need a little help...
Thanks.

Download the 1.0.20 version and read the IBuscomM.ini. You will see a new parameter AppClassSendEventTo you can use instead off AppCaptionSendEventTo. This makes IBuscomm to search the window on the class, not on the title.
Example for WinAmp 2.81 :
AppClassSendEventTo="Winamp v1.x"
This will do exactly what you want.

ibus messages
Thanks guys, I now have Rolf's gadget installed, IBus Comm software installed with WinAmp.
Deep breath...
It works! But I'm somthing is wrong. Please let me know what I need to do.
1. Every 10 seconds or so this message pops up in Ibus Comm:
Process Msg RAD_CDPOLL (Radio Polls CD)
Reply was CD_POLLRESP (CD poll Resp)
What does that mean? Is this normal IBus traffic?
2. Most of the buttons I want to use do not generate any code or message in IBus Comm. The program responds to the steering wheel > and < buttons, as well as the 1-6 buttons and the NAVTKN button, etc.
BUT - I want to assign kestrokes to the phone buttons on the steering wheel, and the clock and phone buttons on the stereo. Since the program doesn't respond to pushing these buttons does that mean I need to find out the codes for these buttons somewhere else and manually add them to the .ini file?
3. Some of the commands work (using "simulate message" makes this testing easy). But many do not. Example: One of the pre-defined mapping sends a "keyboardmap" command of ALT-F4 - which as expected quits Winamp when I push "simulate message". BUT if I manually change one of the "keyboardmap" commands to, say ="f" it doesn't work (I have a GLOBAL HOTKEY setup so that pressing 'f' on the keyboard skips forward).
Thanks again for your good work and willingness to help,
Paul

Yes. That means the radio checks if the CD player is here. It is a programmed behaviour in IbusComm.ini.

Yes. look at the demo ibuscom.ini provided with ibuscomm

I have the IBUs hooked up to my Cd changer harness IBUS wire and downloaded al software. I dont know what COM port my serial connection is assigned to. How do I determine what com port the IBUs is using on my M10000 board? I tried com 1 and 2 but not getting it to work. I also tried teh analyser and I could not get the buttons to pick up.
