laptop keyboard question

for some reason when i boot my laptop it will only play video on the laptop screen and not my lilliput. i change it to the laptop by hand (function + f10) and when i reboot it goes back to displaying video on the laptop, not the screen. windows xp has a on screen keyboard but it doesnt contain the function key. does anyone know how to combat this or if they make a laptop keyboard emulator or another way around this. thanx a ton. getting a flexy usb keyboard is my last option.

Have you tried changing the settings in the BIOS? My laptop also does the same thing; but if i go into BIOS i can change the display default, and then it will stay on the external screen.
