Why does my audio sound so bad?
Today I ran 22 gauge shielded cable for audio to my trunk. I put my computer in the trunk and played it. I can hear it fine but there's this cruddy sound to it that sounds like it's a bad tape out of the 70's. I know this can't be the tape adapter because I hooked that up to the computer in the front of the car and it sounded great! There's a shield wire in the cable, would grounding that eliminate that? The engine wasn't even on, just in the accesory position. This is causing too much stress!!!!! Thanks.

Always ground just to make sure. Just take any guage wire from a screw onto your computer to just about anywhere metal on your car. My computer is under my front seat so i just took the ground to a bolt holding down the seat. Just get a wire going from your box and test different spots on your car. Good luck, let me know if it worked out...

Same deal here in Oz, they are more like a hybrid between a K-Mart (walmart in the US?) and a lame *** electronics store. Also they are really expensive, I think this has something to do with the fact that they still blister pack everthing they sell. Come on, you dont need to package resistors and diodes too!!

The shield does nothing without being grounded, so you will want to ground it. Also, make sure your connections at each end are decent.

Can you imagine the mess we would have if we had all small parts just laying around without packages? Like finding a needle in a haystack. And in your country the radioshack's are franchise stores, so they can sell whatever they want, charge whatever they want, and do whatever they want. Hey guys we must be doing something right to be in buisness since 1921. And I could go on for days about the stupid stuff I get from customers every day. Would you expect someone to refund a 6 foot coax cable purchased in 1995?

Honesty Hard to come by in the cyber world! I think we have a good company going here. Every company has idiots working for them. It is SOOO hard to find good people that wont rip you off or come to work on time. OK, I'm done talking!

Just to play devil's advocate:
My local electronics store has managed just fine for 100 years (yes, 100 years) doing this.
