Where can i get a Socket 7 mobo
Im looking for a Socket 7 mobo with onboard sound / video / network. I can find this for socket 370 (celerom) but i want to use a p233mmx i have here. I want on board to minimise space required.
Any ideas?

There is a lot of stuff at pricewatch.com
The easiest thing to do would be to visit some Mobo makers sites, find the ones that had the features you wanted, then search for that board on pricewatch.
Honestly Im thinking a socket 7 board will cost about $20-30 US. (if not less)

Getting a Socket 7 mobo is rather simple. But trying to get one with onboard video, sound and ethernet is a differnt story, i hope they do exist, because im yet to stumble across anything that proves they exist.

I just checked out that Amptron link from Arby and they said that a Socket 7 mobo will accept the AMD K6-2 500 processor.
Is that really true? Can I go out and order a $50 K6-2 550 and replace my old P-100? That is well worth the money if I can do that.
I know it is going to depend some on my motherboard. Mine will accept up to a P233-MMX (if that helps)
I know I am going way off topic but that would mean quite a bit more horsepower for my player if I can do that!

hornet: Take a look at http://www.pcchips.com. Their site sucks, but they have the board you are looking for.

Falcon: Though the AMD K6 and the Pentium use the same socket 7, they will not always work. The motherboard has to be specially built for the amd and the intel. Motherboard like the on above accept both, but older ones will _only_ work with the pentium, even though the amd will fit in it's slot. Check the mobo's manual to see if it will work with the amd. To use a 500, you need a 100 mhz bus and a 5x clock. An older mobo, such as a pentium 100, would only have a 66 mhz bus, or even a 50.
Although, if it says you can have a pentium 233, you can get them for $20-30 now anyway.

I found an article for what it's worth about using the AMD K-6 on the old Pentium Socket 7 motherboard on TomsHardware.com:
http://www.tomshardware.com/cpu/00q4/001106/
I've never gotten into overclocking but for $50 I think it might be worh a try...
Thanks again Arby for the Info!

OK
My P-100 is now an AMD K6-2 400!!!!!!!
Actually I used a K6-500 but I could only get it to go up to 400Mhz with a 66MHZ bus speed. I did have to play with some jumpers and upgrsde the BIOS but it was worth the $50!

Quadrupling the speed of your computer for $50 is a very good deal indeed.
