Mounting a PC opposite a sub
Lo all, I'm currently evolving my boot install and want to relocate my PC from the rear seat (hatch back) to a position where I can carry a bit more load.
For a sub enclosure I have one of these "Stealth boxes":
Clicky
It sits in the boot (trunk) behind the rear wheel arch and is fairly flush with the parcel shelf support. (I'd get a pic of it in situ but the cars having it's MOT (road worthiness) test tomorrow.
They make them for both sides, so was considering getting one and making a feature enclosure on the opposite side. One concern is that the kick from the sub might affect the PC (hard drive mainly).
Any input on this?

Hmmm
A speaker is a giant Magnet... Computers and magnets aren't very good friends... keep them away from each other..

addition
Add, you said in your orginal message that only the HDD.. but its actually more on the system board that affected... look for EMI materials and build them around the computer enclosure.. maybe that'll work..

Ah, you missunderstand me.
2 enclosures, one on the nearside of the car, the other on the offside.
Theres a picture on the link which shows the 2 enclosures on opposite sides.
What I'm concerned about is the air pressure causing the HD to skip as it would be firing directly towards it, albeit through a plexi window.

There are many people here with subs and computers in their trunks. I haven't heard of any problems directly related to the two being in the same compartment.

your hdd will be fine if in doubt mount it solidly on the inside of the "spare" sub box using some wood screws ! 9you could get a few mouse pads and use them between the wood and the drive for extra isolation, the other alternative would be to get one of those hdd coolers and mount the drive in that and then mount the cooler to the box, probably easier to mount as well

id try sound proofing, thick metel or cement case, depending on how hardcore you system is, and megnetic shielding.
i had a friend with eight 10" subs and a large ppi amp, we had to soundproof his eclipse cd changer so the bass wouldnt make it skip.
