Damn. That is cool, I hope though that mp3car would be the first to put out a fix. I take pride in this site.

Since the AC adapter is just providing a DC voltage, I'm sure you'll just need a DC voltage (hopefully 12V). If not 12, it'll probably be 5V, which is easy to get from the 12 cheaply.

edit: this is what I get for typing slowly.

Looks good so far, but... I am not convinced yet, he brags a lot but never will release any details on his work. So when I see the plans on how to build my own I'll be happy.

from what i have seen there are 2 variations of the Xm Direct unit.. one that provides power like ekeefes shows, and another that has a separate power input. So you may only need the output that converts the signal to be read by the pc, and not the power adapter

How likely is it that he will release the protocol so we can do it ourselves?

I saw a picture of one somewhere with a molex type power connector. I wonder if that was a pre-production version.

so would this enable someone to get FREE XM radio, or do you have to already subscribe, and this will allow you to auto record to MP3 with tags etc...

I'm not too familiar, have seen many posts, but don't understand many terms talked about..
