usb hub issues please help

I have a bekin ubs1.1 4 port mini hub that i am plugin into my m10k. If machine is on (booted), then u plug in hub it works, light flckers to idicate as much (I assume).

but...

Machine off. hub plugged in. Turn machine on, hub light stays solid. XP reports malfunctioning usb device not recognised?. Same thng happens on resuming from standby hibernate etc... Anyone know what the story is?

it probably isn't the hub, but something pluged into it. Try it with nothing, then one, then the other. I have found some periferals don't like to be on a hub, hd's & sound cards in particular, may have to run certain periferals off the motherboard usb, hope this helps...

have been experimenting with different bits and pieces but the thnig is jst a POS IMO. Thanks anyways

Yeah, cheap hub. I'd say get something different/better. Maybe even a USB2.0 hub. It'll still work with 1.1
