XMdirect cable + Sony Unilink Interface. help!

I have been trying to figure out how to use the unilink interface on my sony HU to interface with the car pc. there is an existing project (GNUnilink) that is designed to fool the unilink interface to enable aux in and also allow serial interface with a pc, but it is buggy and difficult to create.

So i was thinking it would be possible to fool the sony HU into thinking it is gettin XM data (artists/track/station), instead feeding it ID3 tags; and allow the channel change commands sent from the sony hu to control the pc with customizable commands as apposed to changing the xm channel.

The XMdirect cable for sale on HybridMobile and discussed here is able to interface interface the XMdirect tuner with a PC.

And the sony XMDirect XMDSON100 which converts the sony unilink interface to the xm direct tuner interface.

SO could the HybridMobile XMdirect cable (or some modification of it) be connected to the sony XM interface thing, and thereby connect the HU to the pc? seems possible, the format of the station/song/artist data that is beeing sent from the XMdirect tuner has obviously been determined to create the cable, could this be emulated and output from PC to an XMdirect tuner plug. then my sony hu would think it is gettin xm data, but instead would serve as a char lcd for the car computer and also remote control.

Any help/guidance would be greatly appreciated.
