Ok well I'm almost always listening to something in my car so I usually don't hear but when I have my radio off or I'm having a conversation it drives me nuts. All I can hear is this real high pitch squeel. I have my carputer installed in my glove box. My questions is what can I use to deaden the sound without going to a slower/laptop hard drive and without overheating anything. I don't have any fans installed in my glove box right now except the CPU fan that came with the M10K mobo. Thanks for any suggestions.

If you're HD is making that type of noise, then chances are something is wrong with your HD. Try another one. Also what angle is it mounted at?

It is difficult to sound deaden without decreasing ventalation.

also you may want to look at lining your glove box w/ dynamat/eDead/B-Quiet/Peel-n-Seal to lower its sound... but more than likely if you can hear it with it in the glove box either the HD is going bad or maybe its causing the glove box to radiate the sound louder... see if you can stop the vibrations and go from there
