Mounting PC to protect from damage

With a standard PC hard drive without all the protection of shock absorbtion of a notebook drive, are there any special mounting techniques to protect against bumbs in the road in such? Or do you even need that sort of thing at all?

Will a normal healthy hard drive stand up to regular road use?

Yes, it should run just fine. No special mounting.

I used suspenders, and closed them in my back windows (I have power windows) keeps it suspending the whole time.

Yup, or you could use rubber bands and suspend it from the clothing hooks in your back seats!

Do not 'suspend the drive' in this fashon, it introduces hamonics.

Mount the drive firmly to a solid surface.

And do a little searching or read the FAQ even a little before asking.

I leave my hard drive at home to absolutely avoid any possible damage and trail a long IDE cable wherever I go...
