Price = 56.05. I'll be getting a Celeron 2.53 to match it. How well would this perform (basic Car-PC functions: Audio, Video/DVD, GPS, Webcam mounted to rear window, etc - no gaming or anything silly) and is this reasonable power consumption?

its micro ATX so i guess it has a normal ATX power connector so inverter PSU or Opus/sproggy etc.

Don't know how those Intel graphics compare to nforce2 IGP though.

I haven't figured all that out yet. It'll be ATX, just not sure of source. Still trying to decide which case to use, and how I'm going to work out powering...

i bought the same board last week on ebay for £21 (seems to still retail at £40). It seemed to me to be a perfect choice for a carpc... with the intel brand name and even rapid bios boot feature.

About an hour after i'd won it i realised that the intel extreme graphics chipset will not work with powerstrip or custom resolutions therefore no way to get 800x480 without a separate video card. I'm thinking of selling this board and getting a Asus a7n8x/vm a mini-atx board that has an Nforce2, and something i could throw into the car with an athlon mobile.

Either way, the intel seems to be a great little board. Totally depends on your power supply and requirements from the onboard extreme graphics whether you'd want to use it as a carpc.

hth,
jon

Hmm, well it would appear that I was wrong. I've put a celeron 2.0 on this and its as stable as a centipede. It's worth the extra power methinks.

After reading probs with having to do a wire mod to get the mobile athlons to work its put me off that route, and so has the price of the nforce boards and the cpu's themselves. So far i've spent £40 for board and CPU

Hopefully Opus 220 will be out soon, then i wont be worried at all

cheers,
