Mii-12000 USB HD Hibernate

Well there ya go! Enough keywords for the next person to search on!?

I've got the Epia MII-12000 mobo and I have connected an external USB2.0 laptop HD enclosure with all my MP3s on it.

When I come out of hibernation in XP Pro, I seem to have a locked carPC. I can't click the touchscreen, and the drive is unavailable. If I remove and return the USB cable for the drive everything comes back to life and we're all ok again.

If I do not have the drive attached, then everything is fine, USB touchscreen, USB Keyboard, GPS mouse, the lot.

Is there anything I can do to make this USB2 external hard drive behave on resume? Is there any special settings I need to do in Windows?

i think this goes along with the usb resume problems from hibernate.. and i think the answer is no... you could hack the cable and put a switch on the positive lead of the usb device, that way it turns on when you flip the switch... this would allow the device to be rerecognized and then you should be ok....

for some reason, for me its faster to shut down and reboot windows than it is to enter hibernation...

Thanks Dude

I've attempted to put the machine into standby instead to see what differenct it makes, none most prolly!

I guess if I did a shutdown, it'd get round this issue, but forget my navigation settings if I set a journey and stop off for a rest/petrol.

Ahh well, looks like the switch idea. I've been toying with the idea of putting a USB panel on the front dash anyhow. I might leave it to the people who are fibing my touchscreen into the dash, when I get the Xenarc screen housing.

This looks like BIOS problem. Do you have the latest one flashed? If yes, I would send an email to VIA support. And waaaaaaiiiiit....
