Using car PC without display?
I'm almost ready to put my car PC into my car. The problem is that I haven't settled on what I'll do for a display. I will have a Tablet PC I can use to remote desktop into it.
Anyone got any thoughts on how useful it will be to have a headless car PC in the car? How much use can I put it to?

Should have mentioned that I also have a USB array microphone lying around that I'm intending to build into my setup.

NaviVoice to control Frodoplayer or Road Runner.

Besides a mic, what other input devices were you going to use?

Aside from the last two months, I have never had a video display in my car (6yrs). After wearing out the sidewalk from hauling my carputer into the house, I got a junk monitor from a family member and tossed it in my garage. Boy, did that help!
(I was running MO displays, which don't cut it when some error dialog pops up!)

Use OVR's last error function if you're using the OVR plugin made by me and LCDC

I've got a GPS but that's not much use without remote desktopping in. It'd be nice to be able to play my music by speech control using NaviVoice. Maybe I'll give that a go.
Where can I get one of those Allbrite's from anyway - that might resolve my display quandary.

The thing is that you won't be able to select the album by voice, but just navigate by saying next album, etc...
Read up on the problems he's been having with his allbrite... ouch

the allbrite is a quest, if you really want one i can definately stear you in the right direction but the setup is not cheap, and you have to find a screen. (neither the setup or the panel are sold anymore)

if you want voice controlled media playback, may i suggest a combo of windows xp, windows media player 7+, and plus! xp ?. plus xp comes with a voice command program for media player which works quite well.

I think finally u will still end up to have a LCD monitor for display because without the LCD display is better to buy the ready made mp3 player or juke box rather than u build it on ur own, am i rite?
