Wiring question

Ok, quick question. How are you guys wiring up the power to the XM direct unit, Creative sound blaster audigy, and usb hub? Are you wiring directly to the ignition switch or putting in your own 12v switched power. ALso what gauge of wire?
Just trying to decide what to do with my install this weekend. I dont need electrical problems in my 2003 Dodge.

It's best to only use the ignition switched line to power a separate 12V automotive style relay and feed the relay with fused battery power. The ignition will turn on the relay and power all those devices just as if connected to the ignition line but without the worry of overloading it.

You can usually get away with just tapping into the 5V and 12v rails from your powersupply. That's what I did. I'm powering a 7" Xenarc, USB hub, remote located slimline dvd/cdrw drive, and of coarse the main compuer components inside the case off my Opus 150.
